The community and wave/hole in Columbus Ga are very unique to the South East.  This makes the Throw down tons of fun.  Columbus Ga is one of the five biggest cities in Ga, including Atlanta.  Columbus loves kayakers and has a multi-million dollar whitewater course project they have been working actively on since 1996.  The media, including local TV affiliates, the local newspaper and local radio stations love to cover and talk about any event happening locally on the Chattahoochee River, especially in the river park corridor.  For more detailed information check out this blog by a local reporter, Shannon Szwarc (who is learning how to kayak) http://riverwalkingcolumbus.blogspot.com/ .

The first throw down had good but not great water levels.  The Throwdown #1 only saw 12 competitors, something I think will radicaly change in the near future.  The local media including three TV stations and the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer.  Here is a link to the Ledger-Enquirer's Coverage http://www.ledger-enquirer.com/news/story/326763.html and http://www.ledger-enquirer.com/news/breaking_news/story/322022.html

We hope to see more people at the future events June 11, July 16, August 13, and September 10

Chuck
