I've used it three times now with my M Burn. I'm 5'11" and it's been a very comfy way to carry my boat. I've only tried one position/setup. Hull on my back - it just seems to be more comfy than the cockpit digging into my back, but I've never tried the latter. This means that the boat had to ride pretty high so it doesn't hit my ankles with every step .... and it gets pretty top heavy. It's also hard to get into the system like this without some extra help. I'm in this photo (blue boat) from Slimerboy's blog (thanks Brandon) on the hike up from Elkmont on the Little in the Smokies

See the red webbing from my bow grab loop? Thats there to help keep it balanced if I need to lean a bit. On wide trails like this and Upper Big Creek, it works great. I tried it on the Conely Cove trail in Linville this weekend and it didn't work so well. There are many tree 'portages' on this trail, so I had to take the pack off of my back a couple times. That combined with many low hanging branches made me give up .... and now I had to shoulder the weight of the backpack too ..... not to heavy, but on a trail like Conely, every pound counts! A friend had a homemade system where the cockpit was on his back and it rode much lower than mine - he made it all the way up Conely without having to take off the pack.
Hope this helps!
