note Having a center pillar does NOT make the boat safer New

I am no expert, but I have seen a few things on the river. I would be willing to bet that if you put pressure on a boat in the water, the center pillar would slip out, maybe making the boat more dangerous by trapping your leg.

I recently saw someone swim a large rapid, and they had no float bags, the center pillar came right out of their boat. The pillars are not held in there very firmly at all.

That said, it sure cant hurt to have the pillar I dont thing (MAYBE you get trapped). Also, it sure helps the boat hold its shape on an everyday basis. I just wouldnt base my boat buying decision on that.

I paddle a Jefe, so I hope I am wrong and mine holds up/in.

sad Since the hurricanes, most things below Conley are sure screwed up. It makes going to the lake not as fun anymore. TonyRobinson New
