The Tyger, Lumber, Cedar creek in to the Broad, the mighty Wateree and the Edisto near Aiken State park are all great flat water trips that can be multi-day and are within 3 hrs of Asheville.

If you want to go in early fall, Carolina Heritage Outfitters just south of Orangeburg SC will rent you canoes, run your shuttle and even rent you a treehouse with a dock along the river. I say wait till fall because the mosquitos will kill you in Summer.

A fun and easy lake trip is on lake Jocassee. Paddle from Devils Fork across the lake to the state managed campsites. Clear, warm water, white sandy beaches - realy nice, especialy during the week when few folks are out-
