I can't find much more detailed information than that immediately.
But, it does stand to reason that instant egress is a huge safety advantage - not having a deck or having the deck only cover a small part of your legs makes deck entrapment virtually impossible. And people do die from boat entrapment... rather recently in fact. Technically speaking, an inflatable of any flavor is going to be safer than either canoes or kayaks, but it has the unfortunate disadvantage of being extremely unmanuverable which is a safety problem in itself.
