We hit a new river everyday we were out there. It was crazy. Everything was on the high side while we were out there. We hit pretty much all the sections of Clear Creek, The Eagle (the souce section), Frying Pan, Castle Rock, Slaughter House, Numbers, Fractions, Brown's Canyon, Royal Gorge, Oh Be Joyful, East River, Big Thompson (at high water), Lower Boulder Creek.
Oh Be Joyful and Big Thompson were probably the best and most fun creeks we ran. I noted Thompson above at high water (650ish cfs) because it was total chaos and so much fun! Big adrenaline high after that one. I don't think it is running anymore. We were told a few of these runs were rare because of the great snow pack this year.
Numbers and Royal Gorge were super fun play runs. Royal Gorge at high water is so much fun! BIG Waves!!!
Castle Rock was really cool, which ran into Slaughter House. Frying Pan was a sweet boulder garden run. It was alot like home (SE).
We missed out on Baily's, but were told it is a must run.
Despite the great weather I wore my drysuit everyday, but two. I had to get it overnighted b/c I underestimated the how cold the water was out there and the big temperature swings. However, I was good to go without pogies and alot of locals were wearing them on the river, so go figure.
Also there is a lot a free camping out there so you shouldn't have to pay while you are in CO. :)
Here is my blog for the trip.
