Damn good boater, paddled a 14 footer IIRC (and I make no guarantee about that) but he was a very big boy. It would be an adjustment, but it'd get your dad back on the water and he'd have an advantage since he's already a boater.
You're right, most kayaks are not made for anyone much over 220 pounds since the average boater is somewhere between 170 and 200 lbs - most big people just aren't that active and they sure aren't buying kayaks so there is little incentive for manufacturers to make kayaks that big because the market isn't there - or at least that's the perception. |
