	I am hurt with a broken wrist right now so I haven't tested it, but I got a Shred Ready Standard Fullface in the mail.  $99.  http://www.shredready.com/products/standardff.html  It fits my head great, seems well made and very padded out with thick foam. The thing is some helmets will fit your head better than others; it's hard to know without trying them on.  I took a chance and this one fits me great. I think your idea of taking a kayak class is a great one.
