i have a pirouette (full size), it is my favorite boat to paddle. i have a full fleet of Dragorossi boats (being the SE demo center) as well as a tornado, yet for just pure enjoyment the pirouette is by far my favorite.  it is a very fast river runner from the old school era yes, very much like a user friendly slalom boat.  it has  a relatively slicey stern for a boat of it's size and it is not unreasonable to say the boat will squirt and pivot turn quite well, and in a larger feature it will actually be able to cartwheel and let up huge enders.  yes it is a displacement hulled boat which doesn't mean it is harder to use or learn, it takes a different skill set then the newer boats, however if you learn in the pirouette s those skills will translate much better when swithching to a newer boat. as a first boat you should have a lot of fun with it, and it will be much easier to learn your roll in then a newer planing hulled boat.
ask the person if they will let you demo the boat and see how you feel in it, offer a price afterward if you like it.
