I have busted this part of the backband many times, and used to go to snowboard shops to get replacement ladders (the part that goes into the ratchety thing) from snowboard bindings. If you were lucky, you'd get ones with metal eyelets so that the piece of string that connects the backband webbing to the plastic ladder wouldn't pull through the plastic all the time (e.g. the Pyranha system). I'd replace the crap string Pyranah uses with good cord, and it would work pretty well, but eventually pull out as well.

The best solution was offered by a guy in a ski shop that pulled out some replacement ladders from a Scarpa touring boot; the end of the ladder is a wire loop that's rivited to the plastic by a metal pin, way more bomber than anything else, and you can either tie the backband webbing into it or sew it on to be really bomber.

It's good to make sure the pitch on the ladder teeth fit your ratchet mechanism, but they work for Pryanha.

Good luck,

Dan
