From the "photos" tab, things do work exactly the way I mentioned (open a new browser instance).
From the "Rapids" tab, my computer does as you have stated.

However, I forgot that I have so much gotten in the habit of doing a "Shift-Click" (or 'right-click' and "Open Link in New Window") whenever I click any links almost anywhere, that I forgot what a pain this is for someone who does not use that technique.
