To support Shane's point, it is the first 8 1/2'+ boat (I have a Remix 69) that I have paddled that I can turn easily with hand paddles.  I think the rocker (compared to other modern boats at this length) helps a lot here.    Again, for some this is a feature, for others, a design compromise.

I'm not much of a creek boater (usually HP a river running playboat), so it might also just be that I stink :)
