Great Falls is a great class 5+ run, right in the D.C. area. Probably 20-25 paddlers run one of the routes on the Falls a day.
Paddlers have an excellent relationship with the NPS. All the run needs is some unqualified bozo getting hurt or killed, and the run might be closed to people that enjoy it.
   The Spout is a 20 foot+ vertical drop that requires skill to run properly, or else you crash into the rocks below, possibly breaking your back, or ankles.
  IMO, Kelldawg had no obligation to take an unqualified paddler down, and did the right thing by warning him of the dangers.
