note Boating in Northern France New

Hi Folks,

I have a French exchange student staying in my house. He's 15 years old and I've been exposing him to whitewater. We took him rafting on the New. I've been taking him to rolling practice at a swimming pool here in town and he's developed a strong roll in a very short time. Before he goes back I'm going to take him out on some mild whitewater in a kayak.

He has asked about whitewater in France. He lives North of Paris in the area around Rouen and Amiens. He thinks that any whitewater is probably located in the Alps or Pyranees considerably to the South. However, I feel that the rough terrain in the North of France must afford some opportunities for boating.

Does anyone here know anything about rivers in the North of France and/or any boating clubs he may contact when he gets home? I hate to send him back without at least a toehold and an idea of where to get started.
