After you paddle it some,  post a review. It will be interesting to get an opinion from a modern boater.  I loved my Response. You have to outfit ir so it's comfortable.  Ir rolls like a log, very easy. Which is good because it has a tiny cockpit opening.  It won't turn like a modern boat, but it will turn, you just have do it differently.  On big rivers like the New Gorge it will zip back and forth accross waves and make ferry moves easy. It surfs old school but that ain't nessessarily bad. You can jump on fast long waves that a short boat could never catch. It tends to cut through the tops of waves. Which makes it great at bunching big holes. It doesn't resurface very fast but it does come up smoothly. It could be considered "hole bait".  It's so long. You really have to bounch the boat up as high on the foam pile as you can to swing an end around an ender out.
It paddles more like a canoe than todays kayaks so you would be wise to follow the open boater's lines until you get it dialed in. Back in the day, we didn't make the same moves as you guys today and there may be things you can do with a Response that nobody has done yet.
Did I say it enders? Dude.....you gotta try endering this boat.
