At any rate, about a cup for a couple of gallons - I fill my gear tub about half-way and put 1-2 cups of white vinegar in. Too much vinegar and your gear will smell vinegary. Too little and it won't get the stink out.
Dip it and hang to dry. Should smell clean when it dries.
I first learned this method by putting a bottle of vinegar in the boat and filling the boat up with water. This was nice b/c it cleaned your boat out, too, and then you could just dump the water down the street drain and it's not harmful.
To conserve water, I started doing it in a gear bin instead and using less water and vinegar. Then I take the "dirty" water and use it to rinse out my boat's seat and outfitting. |
