We used to spend the whole day there & your right the lines were long.  It was fun because it was a sticky hole, easy to loop in and link several moves - sometimes more than you wanted...

If you spend much time there you will realize there is a rock that is not too far under the surface.  Many people have broken boats & almost broken ankles.  When I hit the rock so hard that I thought I broke my ankle I was done with it.
