AW Gauley River Festival ~ September 19-21, 2008 ~ Summersville, WV

Gauley Fest just keeps getting bigger and better!  Started in 1983 to celebrate the derailment of a hydro-electric project that would have disrupted the flows on the Gauley River, Gauley Fest has grown to become the largest river festival in the world. It's a showcase for American Whitewater and the top whitewater vendors in the boating community.  It's THE place to catch up with old friends, make new ones and just have a great time with like minded river loving folks.  Gauley Fest is AW's largest fundraising event as well.  All proceeds from the festival support American Whitewater's conservation and access works throughout the nation. The festival will feature live entertainment, a whitewater marketplace, raffles, and a silent auction where you can pick up some awesome outdoor gear. Come out and join us for a weekend of great paddling, exciting camaraderie, live entertainment, killer boat raffles and the infamous silent auction.

The catch is that Gauley Fest just can't happen without your help.  Please sign up for 2 hours (or more) and become a part of the Gauley Fest Volunteer Team!  It's a fun and easy way for you to be a critical part of an amazing festival.  For your time you'll be given a "volunteers only"  Gauley Fest T-shirt, invitation to a private "volunteers only" dinner (with great beer!), tickets for a "volunteer only" boat raffle and the feeling of knowing that you make Gauley Fest happen!  We've even got a few extra "volunteer only" surprises up our sleeves…more details to come. Don't want to volunteer alone?  Bring your friends! And feel free to pass along this request.

Here are some possible volunteer opportunities for you and your friends:

Last Minute Set-up:  Arriving early?  We need help all day Thursday and Friday.

Electrical:  Are you an electrician?  We could really use your help on Friday.

Gate, Parking, Membership, and T-shirt Sales
:  We need your help for these positions Friday and Saturday from 4pm on. This is where we need the most volunteers and this is where you have the most fun!

Clean-up
:  The more folks we have Sunday morning the faster it goes!

Slots are on a first come, first serve basis so email me soon and I'll try to get you in your preferred volunteer slot.  If you're part of a club or group of friends that would like to help out, please let us know as well!

Happy paddling and see ya there!
