note How do you know when you are ready to step it up, Class III to IV New

So you have been paddling class III's for awhile but how do you know when you should jump to class IV? I have been paddling class III rapids all this summer & last. I am extremely confident playing in every wave I can. Trying to surf the toungue of the rapid if its surfable. Eddying out every chance I can, ferrying across the rapid to the eddy on the other side. I have flipping 3 times all year in a rapid (not on purpose) and rolled up my first time every time. Just so I remember what it is like beign flipping in a rapid I usually flip myself at the tail end of a rapid and roll back up.

Are there any tell tale signs I am ready? I am certain I am ready but my kayaking partner just might not be yet so this is more for him than me. We are self taught if that matters at all.

  Thanks
