feedback the lost and found is absurd-attack or defend New

the lost and found, laid out in the format of another forum, is ridiculous. when people lose gear they start a new thread or whatever it's called. when people find gear, they start a new thread. this disregards all the old ones. if you post about lost gear say, a month ago, you must of necessity go through and look at ever single thread until you get to your post. come on folks, posting "found werner" in the subject line doesn't really help all that much. so the person who swims and loses their werner (not me just an example) has to look through all of those, checking date, location, paddle color, etc. that just ain't right. the punishment (or appeasement, really) for the swim is drinking the bootie, not clicking through 50 threads trying to find your paddle. Ok, so the bitching is over.

now, the solution. (keep in mind this came to me over breakfast and i've thought about it for two minutes) we need a page with two links, lost gear and -you guessed it!- found gear. after those links, it should be organized in a way (shoot this down if you like, it's just a thought) to narrow down what you're looking for or the item you found further. i feel like location is a good idea. i'm assuming (with complete ignorance) that a states thing similar to the AW river database page would work best. after that, it's simply links for items of gear. we could have the big five: helmet, lifejacket, skirt, paddle, and boat, with the addition of maybe apparel, and miscalaneous. now how the f do you spell that... anyways, in closing. i feel like a new lost and found would be sweet, and it would help to connect people and their foolishly misplaced gear. however, to tell the truth i'm not the one doing the work on the page or the driving force behind the project. on this note, if you think it's a good idea say so, if not... whatever. thanks. what a productive breakfast.
