Were winding down and awaiting our departure from Seattle in the AM. What an amazing trip this has been. B.C. was everything we expected and then some.
Started off doing the round about over on Big Silver. Probably only been run a handful of times, we caught it with med low water, amazing scenery, walled in box canyons and a few stout rapids. Got both of our trip swims out of the way early. Hucked a 35' possible first D on the way out.
Headed toward Pemberton and Rogers Creek. The jewel of BC creekboating...back to back to back 20 footers in a stunning gorge. Best rapid was the Raven Fork rapid..who'd of thunk it??? Ran Rogers twice then headed over to Whistler for some nightlife and Cal-Chic camping.
Ended up going over to Birkenhead the next day on beta that it was low. It wasn't...level was a perfect medium, the posse gives it two thumbs up. "Black Dick" rapid was the highlight as the river built to a crescendo.
Made our way to the Ashlu drainage the following day at a high level and had a few hair raising moments on the Upper Ashlu. "Super chill" B.C. class V...yeah right! Shayne had an uncomfortable day and I got some unintentional rodeo time. Only the five of us and a bunch of bears in the entire Ashlu valley. Heavenly blue glaciers covered the peaks and typical BC "hell f&^k" dominated the landscape. High water necessitated our return to Calaghan the following day...Shayne and I did 3 laps. The 15'er into the clean 20' put smiles on our faces, but unfortunately took a toll on my back as I was out the next day.
Kirk was able to get Tatlow yesterday but heavy rainfalls have forced our early retreat from the Ashlu valley back to Vancouver for a P & H double drop on the way out. Lots of pics and video to come.
