I have paddled  the old Allstar, the old Superstar, the newer version of the Allstar, and spent a bit of time in the Chronic.  In terms of "speed" or the illusion thereof, the newer version of the Allstar is significantly faster than the older version.  Compared to the Chronic, I'd say the newer Allstar is about the same in terms of being able to attain or catch waves.  The Chronic is definitely snappier edge to edge which might give it the feel of being "quicker" when on a wave but the Allstar is definitely easier to control and set up for moves.  Worth trying one out.  I had the same issue with you concerning foot room in the Chronic.  You'll have plenty of footroom in the Allstar.
