Reading your post makes me very suprized because my experiences with Polo over the past 3 years have been exactly the oppisite of what you discribe.  Friends and I have spent time in the area the last 3 winters and the folks at Agua Azul, Polo included, have gone out of their way to help us out, even through we have never been part of thier full-service guided trips which is what they are really there for.

Two questions pop into my mind...

Any chance there was just a big miscommunication between your group and Polo?  His english isn't that great (but a hell of alot better than my spanish) and he nods and says "yeah" alot when he doesn't actually understand.

Secondly, was he working/guiding with full-service clients of Auga Azul at the time?  We have always gone out of our way to stay out of the way and not bother them when they have a group of paying clients.  They are a small operation and when those groups are there... they are thier #1 priority.

Anway, if you wouldn't mind e-mailing me some details about your situation/experience I would feel much better about reccomending them (or not) to others as well as thinking about my future dealings with Polo in the future.
