more What about a multiday river trip is so powerful? New

As those who have done multiday river trips know, they are really awesome.  People tend to be thinking positively, are in good moods, love the goofy river guide games that they would normally find annoying, getting along well with everyone on the trip... Your mood is elevated when you shove off and set your watch to "river time," and it's sad when the trip is over and all that ends.  And it's not just experienced river-people that this happens to, it's also the first time rafter who has never had a river experience before.  These types of trips have profound effects on peoples' lives.

So what exactly about a multiday trip makes all this happen?  Is it the isolation in nature?  Is it because it's a situation outside of your comfort zone?  Is it the daily grind of breaking camp, moving downstram and setting it all back up again?
