I really think that if you want people to take time out of there busy lives to write a bunch of letters you could find another tactic.
Question #1 - Are we trying to get the state to step up and pay by writing these letters? I hope money could appear from somewhere, but with the State's current financial mess, and cuts everywhere as the economy hits the shitter, I doubt money will appear?
Question #2 - If we plan to save these 2 gages how are we going to raise funds. I know Chota meets tonight and money for Tellico gage is on the agenda, but $14,000 per year for 2 gages is alot of money. Even if all Clubs in area made huge donations, I doubt $14,000 could be raised once let alone each year. So maybe TU throws some money. Will it even be close to what is needed? Are there any municipalities or local govt's that may be able to step in so that clubs have help in share of costs? If not I really believed we're screwed.
I love the Tellico and have been wanting to do the Caney Fork for sometime now, so I have a big interest with these gages staying on, but feel like we are only going to be able to throw a bucket of water on a forest fire.
Please tell me I'm wrong and there is a feasible plan to "really" save gages. If so I promise to write the letters and send as much support as I can.
And if I'm right and this is entirely too much money can the boating community start making some cam gages and come up with a cheaper system to get us the beta we need.
Thanks,
