Don't run the gorge as a 3/4 boater.

The big rapids aren't the problem, the problem is that every rock from top to bottom is undercut and MANY rapids push directly into bad situations.  Undercuts, caves, sieves, and pins are everywhere.  Sure you can cheat tower and kinda sneak through el ho, and walk fist, and walk climax and walk triple drop, but then you have walked the whole river.  On top of that, the little rapids are just as dangerous with pin spots and undercuts all over.  Its just not a river for a 3/4 guy.  I gotta say, its harder than the green, harder than the gauley, harder than the suicide section of LRC, its class 4+ rapids with class 6 consequences everywhere.  That makes it REAL class 5.

The MTB'ing is supposed to be really good out there and the upper run is supposed to be fun class 3/4.

I know a bunch of these guys will tell you that you are fine in there and its an easy run, but I just went under Maze rock sunday after 1 simple mistake while still in my boat.  Problem with that gorge is that there are hundred of spots where 1 simple mistake will kill you.  Please take the gorge seriously.
