but if you are not comfortable in your playboat don't bring it.  The lower the levels, the more play actually and winter tends to have lower flows. There is not a lot of sun down there in winter anywhere in the canyon since the sun is so low on the horizon so bring warm dry gear, even a wet suit is really nice if you want to play.  The days get dark around 5 and it is hard to get on the water earlier than 9 or 10 so days are short.  Hiking is spectacular-take some unusual ones like Tabernacle and Eminence that you usually don't do in the summer.
