If "insert paddler here"  paddles that boat it must be pretty good.  If it's good enough for him it must be good enough for me.   That's the idea that I feel most companies take about the "TEAM"  Those that get pro deals are the same thing. 

I paddle with one of the greats from the 80's and 90's and I will admit that when he says he doesn't like this or that about a boat I listen!!!! I respect his opinion but I do realize what fits and works for one may not for others. 

The fact is when a big name boater (local, national, or world) paddles people watch, listen, and follow.  This directly relates to boat sales for the company.  If they like said big name boater and think highly of his or her skill, personality, etc. then they are more likely to buy the type of boat he or she paddles.

Team members do make a difference.  If boat company "X" has no top notch paddlers using their boats then many people will wonder why???? and buy one that they know will perform if they develope the skill to make it do so.
