BUT, they're also heavier than a composite playboat would need to be to have an advantage, and they're a shape that's easier to keep stiff.  It's also notable that most squirt boat owners have to do repairs fairly regularly (My squirt boat is leaking like a seive right now and needs a front-end patch).  You're right that composites are completely repairable, which keeps them alive for years with some extra work, and extra pounds of repair weight.  It's just a trade-off.
