I think he decided it would have been more fun in plastic- it's nice to not have to think about the boat.  Granted, it was 2500 release, but Geeks, Hungry Mother, Batcave wave all have potential for hitting on loops, Sweet spot is pretty much guaranteed hit, and there are a lot of splats, boofs, slots, and rock spins along the way- all of which he paddled by without playing (except for geek wave, where he taped up the boat while we played)  

But he did look GOOD at Insig.
