my guess is they got it for super cheap or free and just said that stuff about fit to seem honest...

Maybe they work for a paddle shop or even Kokatat.
I highly doubt they paid full price for the drysuit. Obviously they obtained it in a way they had no way of exchanging or returning it...which most likely means it wasn't bought directly.
