Keen was started by Martin Keen. Martin sold off his interest in Keen footwear and started Mion. Timberland bought Mion, paying off Martin, and shut-em down. It's one way of doing away with the competition.
Mion was a tough sell. The concept was great, but the product was just too funky looking for most folks. And, they sucked as paddling shoes if your foot was bigger than a size 9. I got a few free pairs over the years, they always gave me blisters, and my wife always made fun of me for wearing "clown" shoes. FYI: I never kept any of the Crocks I've been given either. Damn funny looking Dutch shoes. I remember when Walden invented those goofy things.
