The Ammo has a big weight range for different purposes- if you're on the upper end of the weight range, you'll get more play, and if you're on the lower end, you'll get more river running ability (though I'd say that 198 is a bit generous for the small- I'd say 165 is probably a realistic upper end for having any more river running ability than a playboat).  At 165, you'd probably want a medium for riverrunning.  I'm about 150, and have a small because of the play ability, but thinking about picking up a medium for more river running ability.  I paddled a medium on the South Yuba this spring, and it was a solid river runner.
