Skiing reguires getting to the top of a mountain and that requires the participant to have an very high level of fitness. If it was easy, we'd see most skiiers looking at resorts with distaste as they crowd the backcountry during winter.
Hiking is much more accessible to the masses. You can pick a trail that can match your fitness needs and time requirements that can't be done skiing in the backcountry. Would people pay money to go on a intermediate loop hike? |
