I have no problem with you deciding that you want to buy the kids stuff because it is what you can afford. But if you think it takes Jim a few hours and $50 worth of wood to make a paddle, you are way off base. The work that goes into a high quality paddle is extensive and the devil is in the details. Jim and Keith have those details figured out after years of work. You get what you pay for. Sometimes it is worth paying a little more.
Buy what suits you needs, but don't make silly claims about what goes into a paddle.
