	Most people consider the Upper Gauley class IV these days. The Gunny Gorge isn't even close to the Upper G in terms of difficulty. I think it has less to do with east/west than when a run was first run regularly. Is Brown's Canyon class IV? Is the SF Payette Staircase really class IV? No and no. Try not to get so caught up in general east/west comparisons. There are enough people here who can give you realistic comparisons to specific runs to worry about mostly unfounded generalities.
