with what EJ teaches which I refer to as a backdeck roll and rhe rodeo roll.  In the backdeck roll EJ teaches you still set up tucked forward to protect your face but when you roll you come up with your head down and on the stern.  The only time your face is exposed is when you actually roll up.  Yes if you rolled back over imediately your face would be exposed but if you do it correctly that should not happen.  In the rodeo roll your face is clearly exposed from the start and it should only be done in deeper water or by someone who is good enough that their face hardly even touches the water.  I've seen guys who don't even get their hair wet doinga rodeo roll.

My roll has been pretty solid for a long time but I think its better now that I use some of the stuff I learned from EJs dvd, particularly in todays playboats - they are more difficult to roll if you try to do a true C-C coming up with your face on the front deck.
