I have a tendency to do that sometimes when I've missed a roll.  I am trying to get rid of the habit.  I got squirted twice this weekend when I rolled up leaning back.  One of the times there were consequences to not staying upright, luckily I did.  I ended up slapping at the water to keep myself from going back over and tweaked my shoulder.  Rolling up leaning back is just a bad idea, especially if you are near the top of the weight range for your boat and you're in current.
