Just got back to town...took a quick look back and I don't _think_ anyone has posted about this already...
On Friday I was walking along the olympic course and saw this:
Some clueless kids (young adults) were swimming in an eddy (no PFD's) and a young woman got caught in the eddy current and recirc'd under a pour-over several times before getting spat out in the main current. She was swimming down the main channel, exhausted and calling for help. Two boaters in the playhole below tried to get to her, one of them did...a tall guy in a SuperEZ. He tried to paddler her to shore, but by then they were way to far right and were drifting right into Humongous. I didn't see exactly what happened next, but I think he bailed out of his boat and went into humongous with her. I saw one rope thrown and they were both pulled out, so I think he must have held onto her.
I saw her face as she was drifting down; she was tired and had no idea what to do. I think she would have been in big trouble if someone had not gotten to her before humongous. That paddler, whoever he is, may have saved her life.
I'd love to know how that story really ended if anyone knows the guy... |
