(I really love this discussion!)
what I see is that if I hold my 45deg AT up for a left hand stroke, everything is peachy--both hands sit perfectly on the keyed grips without bending my wrists. I also own a 12 degree waterstick, and for me, the "natural" angle is something more than 12 probably a little less than 45.
HOWEVER, if I hold the same paddle up for a right hand stroke, there is NO WAY that my left hand can stay on the left grip. I have to let go.
So what I keep saying is, the offset only works to create a natrual angle for one hand. If you're going to control both blades with a dominant (right) hand, then it makes sense to use an offset.
But if you control each blade with the "working hand" nearest that blade, and let the top hand be loose, then there's really no advantage to an offset. (Dennis Millerism: but that's just my opinion...I could be wrong.) |
