Re: feedback Assuming the object did not have any velocity at the lip of the slide... kayakerjim New

Energy at lip = mgh + (mv^2)/2
Energy at lip = (2000 lbs)(32.2 ft/s^2)(105 ft) + 0
Energy at lip = 6,762,000 lbs ft/s^2

Kinetic energy 2/3 down the slide = 6,762,000 lbs*ft^2/s^2 - (2000 lbs)(32.2 ft/s^2)(2/3)(265 ft)(cos 66.7)
Kinetic energy 2/3 down the slide =2,261,747 lbs*ft^2/s^2

Kinetic energy = (1/2)mv^2
2,261,747 lbs*ft^2/s^2 = (1/2)(2000 lbs)v^2
v = 47.6 ft/s
v = 32.4 mi/hr

(same assumptions - no friction & no starting velocity)
