I agree, that the land management will probably say "no". I also feel like its not really a necessary guage, but by placing it at Fishtop it would be useful to more people. They allow boating access at Fishtop and may be open to an "enhancement of the paddling experience". I would think they'd certainly be more open to it there, where PAYING CUSTOMERS who affect the regions tax base might be able to use it, as opposed to in the Narrows, where it would be an "eyesore to hunters/fisherman" and only useful for the "few" dirty hippie boaters would see it.
As for the Rings, that's a different situation altogether. They have no bearing on my feelings about a gage. Do I think that situation should have been handled differently? Yes, and I said so when the idea of locking the gate was first brought up. Its the system we have though, and I've bought a key every year its been in place. Last year I kicked in a little extra. But again, parking issues have nothing to do with this proposed gage. Its an entirely separate can of worms.
