Its a long rope attached to tree(s) upstream.
Takes 2 people, one to surf, the other to pull the handle back via a tether cord. Its dangerous (although less so no) and people have been tangled in the rope before.

Its not easy to do at first but once you get the hand of it its not so bad. Gotta surf across the eddyline until you start to drop in, then toss the handle.

BTW - you don't need to use this rope. You can carry 50 yards upstream and drop in if you like.
