I learned in a wavesport EZ and my instructors also paddled them. They are great all around boats for learning, not too slow like some creek boats, and they have bows that are easy to grab hold of in the case of a boat to boat rescue. Creek boats gan be hard to get ahold of in moving water (especially if your new to being upside down underwater. If not the EZ then perhaps something with similar characteristics. You can get a used EZ relativly cheap. Hope this helps
