Now back in the day, that road sucked, but I still used it over Leatherwood.  Anyway, O&W isnt that bad anymore.  It was grated a year or two ago.  Yes, it's slowly deteriorating again, but it's not bad at all.  Saw several cars back there last weekend.  Cars, not trucks.  Cars with little ground clearance.  It may be a little slow going and it may take just a little more time than paddling on down to Leatherwood, but you can avoid all of the flatwater.  Above 2,000 I'll use Leatherwood if the folks Im paddling with are bent on it, but I prefer O&W....especially if yer drinkin beer when you get off the river.  Park rangers dont like you drinkin beer at Leatherwood in plain sight.

The ticket is:  Take out at the beach on river right just above the bridge rapid...aint much of a rapid anyway and makes the carry to the top of the steps much easier than climbing out on the rocks in a moving eddy and then rock hopping up to the bridge footer, throwing yer boat up on the footer, climbing up yourself and then carrying the steps.
