When a woman  makes me choose between my passion for boating and her affections... her affections seem to lose their appeal to me.  You must find a balance between the different priorities in your life.  She can not decide the right balance.  You may choose to explain the importance of boating in your life to her.  I make time for the woman in my life.  If she gets testy about me kayaking... just another reason to go today.  I do not want to be around her if she is bitchy.  If she is mad when I return, then I go right back out to the river.  Women who are not boaters seem to think this is just a hobby.  My second wife Josephine found out the hard way when she said, "Kayaking or me... what is it going to be?"  I went to the river for the weekend.  She left while I was gone.  I am a happier man today.
