I dont lurk here often, but noticed the SUV slamming going on. Mostly, its deserved. The SUV just took the place of the full sized van...natural progression.
Still, to say that somebody that drives an SUV is automatically a poser is stupid.
I need to be able to pull 8,000 pounds for work, fairly often.
I have 3 kids, they need a seat.
I need to be able to drive offroad, across muddy jobsites, daily. A week doesn't go by when I don't need 4wd....or if its not that wet out I still need the ground clearance.
I need to be able to fit at least 6 boats on the roof rack, 4-7 riders in the cab, have a place for a weeks worth of gear, and STILL have a bed in the back so I can drink/sleep after its my turn driving on paddling trips.
I need my vehicle to be big enough to sleep in, I hate wet tents!!!!
I want a roof rack/structure strong enough to put lumber and pipe up there.
Only a few vehicles will fill my specific need. Without any one of those things, I would need a second vehicle.
So why, dare I ask, am I a wimp for needing those capabilities and not buying some pussy little car. Some of the capabilities are clearly fluff, like the ability to sleep in it, but there are only a select few vehicles that can tow 8k pounds and have the offroad ability to go to my jobsites. That's an SUV, period.
Right now, I have two boats and gear in the back of my SUV, which smells like rhino ass from the boating gear last weekend that I plan on leaving in there in case it rains. Why am I the poser.
Just stirring the shit...bored today.
