Of course, even if he pressed charges you wouldn't go to jail (this is a first offense, isn't it?) but you don't want that on your record--it makes getting a job, security clearance, etc much more difficult. I have a question: how did he find out that you were going to egg his car? I'm just guessing but I bet you told someone you were going to do this and they told the victim. Here's a suggestion: in the future if you are going to commit a crime, don't tell people about it. Also, learn the difference between harmless pranks and actions which cause real property damage. Egging a car can really destroy the paint job--it's not cute or harmless.
