Ha. I can remember my dad dragging me to yard sales at a very ealry age. I hated it.
Now that I'm 27, poor and, kindof a gypsy, my outlook has definitely changed a bit. My personal belongings have diminished over the past few years. I can attribute this to my affection for paddling and traveling. Now that I have a real job and plan to be in Denver for atleast a year, I ride around random neighborhoods in search of those little yellow yard sale signs.
My favorites are the estate sales. I always find good stuff at those things. Yesterday, while driving around looking for apartments, I landed at an estate sale. The owners had moved to florida or something. The apartment was full decently priced furniture, kitchen nick-nacks, and expensive art.
Of course, I was most interested in the expensive stuff. Drats. I have this weird habit of picking up random peices of wall art. My most recent find, at the estate sale, was a 5 foot by 2 foot painting of the chicago lights. It's actually slightly ugly but, I like it.
The painting hangs horizontally by 5 feet. The background is two toned and blue. The city is painted in black and then outlined with gold puffy paint. I ahve to say that it's not the cutest painting I've ever seen. However, stangly interesting, will cover a large space on a wall and cost me $25. Therefore, I have decided this odd painting a great find.
