question Plumbing question... New

After 6+ years of bathing children in a bathtub, I have to ask:

Is there any reason that the drain MUST be located at the same end of the bathtub as the faucet?

There's certainly no plumbing reason, as the drain and faucet are completely separate systems. The reason I'm asking is because kids invariably insist on sitting right on the drain, which causes soapy water to fill the tub. If the drain were at the other end, the kids could sit under the flowing water all they want and the water would drain out nicely at the other end. If you wanted an actual submersion bath, you could still plug the tub and fill it up. Showers would be unaffected, too. I can't think of an obvious disadvantage.

Thoughts?

note I'm guesssing that its's so you don't have choose between laughingtotem New
note Same reason they don't put the light switches on the side of the door you would expect. Oci-One.Kanubi New
note Most switches are on the same side that the knob is on, and from what I`ve seen electricians get into big trouble.. rbowman New
note A lot of tubs have one end at an outside wall, and by code you can`t put the  pressure pipes on an out side..... rbowman New
feedback Wouldn't require a "custom" bathtub... rlhartman New
note Most inserts don't come predrilled for plumbing penetrations jkodadek New
note nah, it still slopes toward the drain <NT> Will_Gosney New
note I'm just talking about standing with the slope going the opposite direction than you are used to <NT> jkodadek New
question So what happens when the nice slope where you usually put your ass is on the other end of the tub?.... rbowman New
note no, garden tubs don't have the drain under the faucet <NT> Will_Gosney New
